University of Phoenix Stadium is Home to the: Arizona Cardinals
University of Phoenix Stadium Opened: August 1 2006
University of Phoenix Stadium Capacity: 78,600
The Arizona Cardinals play all of their
home games at University of Phoenix Stadium. The stadium is the only
stadium in the National Football League that is located
directly on a college campus ( University of Phoenix ).
The Cardinals share the old field with the Arizona State
Sun Devils’ football team that plays in the Pac-10
conference in the NCAA. Sun Devil Stadium is famous for
their bleacher seating that covers almost the entire
stadium and their lack of shade for the fans. It has
been known to get as hot as 120 degrees in the stands
and even hotter on the field. These were some of the
main reasons that the Cardinals organization and Tourism
and Sports Authority are building a new stadium. As of
now the only name the stadium has is New Arizona Cardinals
Stadium. The most interesting part about the stadium,
other than that it will have a retractable roof, is that
the field will is mobile and will be moved outside during
the week to get it more sunlight. The New stadium will
seat 73,000 and hopes to take on events like the Super
Bowl and the Tostito’s Fiesta Bowl which houses
the NCAA Football National Championship every couple
of years.
