The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play all of their home games
at Raymond James Stadium. The stadium is still one of
the newer facilities in the league because it hosted
its first game during the 1998 season. Raymond James
Stadium has been the backdrop for a number of big games
for the Bucs like playoff games.
Raymond James Stadium is known
for a number of things but the first thing it is usually
recognized by is the big ship that sits behind the
north end zone of the field. The Buccaneers front office
decided to put in this $3 million authentic replica
of an early 1800’s pirate
ship for the sole purpose of enhancing every fans experience
at a Bucs game. The ship is 103 feet and is arguably
the most recognizable stadium feature in the world. The
ship showcases eight cannons that celebrate Buccaneer
touchdowns by firing confetti, smoke, mini-footballs,
and a variety of Buccaneer merchandise into the sea of
people around it. The ship’s dock also serves as
a distinctive vantage point that isn’t replicated
anywhere in the NFL or in any other place for that matter.
Behind the boat is Buccaneer Cove which features a two
story fishing village type of area. The Cove shows off
a great deal of different types of concessions and shops
that are specifically catered to the city of Tampa.
