Lambeau Field is Home to the: Green Bay Packers
Lambeau Field Opened: September 29, 1957
Lambeau Field Capacity: 73,000
Lambeau Field is home of the Green Bay Packers and
has been host to many a historic football moments. The
Packers have occupied the stadium since 1957 which is
currently the longest streak of continuous occupancy
in a stadium in the National Football League. This 72,569
seat stadium is the epitome of a home field advantage.
From 1992-2003 the Packers are 79-19 (.806 winning percentage)
at Lambeau Field which is the highest home winning percentage
in that period in the entire NFL. The team also has a
ridiculous 12-1-0 record at home in the postseason.
Since it’s the oldest stadium in the NFL it has
had to go through many facelifts to stay competitive
with the rest of the league. Since 1961 the field has
gone through eight different renovations, most of which
were to add on more seating or just add smaller things
like more bathrooms. The stadium started out at a capacity
of 32,150 and in spite of more than doubling the capacity
the team still utilizes the bowl seating of the original
stadium. The most recent, and best, expansion of Lambeau
Field is the Lambeau Field Atrium. The Atrium features
a number of things that had never been available at the
Field until now. The 25,000 square foot Packers Hall
of Fame is the main appeal of the Atrium at Lambeau Field
and is open year round. It features plaques of all 130
Packers’ members of the Hall of Fame, a recreation
of coach Vince Lombardi’s office and for the kids,
a place where they can run around and experience what
it’s like to do the Lambeau Leap, throw passes
and kick field goals first hand. The Lambeau Field Atrium
also features Curly’s Pub named after Mr. Lambeau
himself. Curly’s Pub is a mammoth restaurant that
overlooks the giant likenesses of Lambeau and Lombardi
outside the stadium. The place looks like the Packers
Hall of Fame exploded and landed in the restaurant. Almost
everything in the restaurant is historically connected
to the Packers. Even the wait staff is trained in Packers
knowledge.
